As you look out from atop
this mountain past the clouds
and fog that hang in the skies,
below you and to the north
is the vast expanse of Akono Basin,
and your new home.
Long ago, a filly was born in the lowlands, possessing the power of foresight. She was taken from her parents by the King, and made the Oracle of the herd. The Kalfex attacked Edaria, demanding to see the Oracle for themselves. In the chaos of the battle, Edarian rebels moved to the wetlands in search of freedom, calling themselves Nadek. After the battle, the Queen was found dead, and The Oracle was captured. The King committed suicide days later, and Edaria quickly chose a new King and attacked Nadek. The new King was killed by Nadek horses in battle. After the Oracle died at the young age of six, the Kalfex soon began attacking both herds, realizing that if they were to defeat them both, that they could finally leave the flatlands. Now, the three herds fight for control over the basin, and each other.
This is Eternal Opposition.
Welcome to the war.
Choose your side carefully,
and be aware that the future
is no longer predictable.
8-16-08: Alright, I'm pissed off at a lot of sites that I previously tried to affiliate with cuz they refused to put up my banner and totally ignored my affiliate requests. Therefore, I'm done affiliating with people from now on, just because they make me want to scream. ANYWAY... if you're a random guest that's just arrived, please take a look around and ask any questions about the site in our guest-friendly cbox. Thanks for visiting Eo, and we hope you like what you see.

Rules and Guidelines « Thread Started on Aug 4, 2008, 3:00pm »
1.Welcome ········································································ Hello and welcome to Eternal Opposition. These are the rules of the site, along with a few guidelines to help you get started here at Eo.
2.Basic ········································································ Be Nice - Respect the staff and all other members and don't fight with people. If you have a problem with one of the other members, take it somewhere else, because I don't really care about your petty quarrels, and it's not my responsibility to be your babysitter and break it up. This is not a day-care, folks. Activity - It's impossible for everyone to be on all the time, but if you're going to be away from the site for a while, make a post on the 'Leaving' board saying how long you're going to be gone and when you'll be back or if you'll return at all. Activity checks are held once every month or so, and all inactive member's accounts will be deleted unless there is a reason or their absence. Spam and Flooding - You should know what spamming and/or flooding a site means, and you should also know that it's mean and disrespectful. Plus, it leaves the staff to clean up your posting mess. Don't do it. Chatspeak - Things like 'lol' after every sentence makes me and a lot of other people angry. Don't do it. Things like 'omg' and 'brb' are fine, but I'd rather not see anyone saying 'u' instead of 'you' or '2' instead of 'two, to, or too'.
3.Accounts ········································································ One Account - Please only make one account unless a staff member directs you to make another one. Keep all of your characters on that one account, no matter how many you happen to play. Name - Names such as 'ponyprincess973' or 'BiLlYbObxxoo' are annoying and should not be used. Images - Avatars can be as big as 100x150px and signatures should be no larger than 555x400px. If you stretch the boards with your images, you will be asked to resize them.
4.Characters ········································································ Numbers - You are allowed to make as many characters as you want, but please try to keep them all active. One Per Thread - When making your character biographies, please post one character at a time, and do not make one thread with all of your characters in it. This makes it easier for staff to count the total number of characters. Mary Sues - These are characters that are perfect in every way, and have no flaws whatsoever. These characters are not allowed, because flawed characters are not only more fun to rp, but are important in the plot itself. Plus, mary sues are annoying and no one likes them except their players. Height - The minimum height for horses on Eo is 14hh. Maximum height is 18hh. I know there are horses taller then 18hh, but too bad. No exceptions. Eyes - Odd colored eyes are allowed on Eo. These colors may include but are not limited to: any dark color, light or 'ice' blue, grey, green, amber, golden, orange, purple, etc. Pink is not allowed, due to the fact that it's a color that makes em think you're a loser. xD Not Finished? - If you don't have time to finish your entire biography in one sitting, say that it's not done in the thread title, and staff will leave it alone until it is completed. Acceptance - After posting your completed biography, a staff member will move your thread to the 'Accepted' sub-board. After you see that it is moved, you may go rp that character anywhere you wish. After your character is accepted, the thread is locked and you are not allowed to edit it. If you really need to edit something, PM a staff member and they can temporarily unlock it for you. Logs - Character logs are for keeping track of your character's age and whereabouts only and should be used for nothing else. They are not required, so don't make them if you don't want to. Keep all of your characters in one log thread, and you may make your log as plan or as fancy as you want. Go crazy.
5.Posting ········································································ RP Level - Eo is an intermediate to advanced rpg, meaning that you should be able to post a good two or three paragraphs per post. Beginners are not encouraged to join, sorry. Word Count - 200 words is the minimum word count per post. A good way to keep track of your average words per post is to put the word count below your post. You can also track your rping improvement by post length this way. 3rd Person - Please rp in 3rd person. It's the most common way to rp. 1st persn rping is not allowed. This is not a narrative. Double-posting - Making a thread and then replying to yourself is not going to make people want to reply to you. Don't do it, it's annoying and no one likes it. Fairness - Powerplaying, godmoding, or magically knowing what another character is thinking are not allowed. Rp fairly or don't rp at all. Correctness - Spelling and grammar are very important in your posts, and if you fail to use correct english, you will be asked to go somewhere and learn how to. I'm not going to teach you; it's not my job. Two Characters At Once - Rping two characters at the same time in the same thread is allowed, but try not to make it look like you're writing your own novel. Also, rp both characters in the same post, and make them different colors or fonts to show that another character is being used. Language - Swearing and cursing in character should not be a regular thing. Just because it's allowed doesn't mean that you have to make your horse call another horse a bastard all the time. OOC swearing is allowed as well, but if you overuse, you'll be asked to stop. Classic RP Words - Words like 'daggers, harks, flints, orbs, optics, auds, etc' are allowed, and are a good way to learn to rp for those of us that aren't as experienced as others. It's good to practice adding that kind of detail, but try not to overuse these kinds of words in your posts, because it can get annoying for those who don't use them. Liquid Time - Sometimes called 'split' time, liquid time is allowed on Eo. One character may be in 3 separate threads at once, as long as it is noted somewhere in the thread that it is a different day or time from your other threads.
6.Time ········································································ Aging - Age your horses whenever you want, but remember that they have to die sometime. It's your responsibility to keep track of your horse's age with each site year. Making a character log can help you with this, because you can't edit your character's original profile after it's been accepted. Seasons - The seasons change when I feel like changing them. They for sure won't be like real life seasons. Much shorter. There's a place in one of the tables to the left where you can see what season it is. The season and weather should be incorporated in your posts. If the season or weather changes and you're in the middle of a thread, just keep posting in the season and weather you're in until the thread is complete. Breeding and Foaling - Sometimes breeding and foaling are not allowed. For example: in the winter foals are not allowed to be born. This means that breeding is not allowed in
7.Herds ········································································ Alliances - There are three herds in Akono Basin, Edaria [eh-dah-ree-ah], Nadek [nah-deck], and Kalfex [ckal-fecks]. Empty Land - If a herd is completely empty and you want to be a King, Lead, or Lieutenant, PM me and tell me which one of your characters is going to take that rank and why they should. I'll look at your rping sample post in your character's profile itself and I'll send you a PM back giving you the 'okay' to post your herd's roster. Joining - When making your character's biography, you are automatically joining a herd or becoming a loner. All you have to do is type the name of the herd you want to join in the 'Alliance' field, or just put 'Loner'. Right after your character is accepted please post your character's name as a reply in your herd's roster thread so your character's name can be added. If you don't do this, your character will be seen as a trespasser and not a herd member. Challenging - After a King, Lead, or Lieutenant is chosen for a herd, they have one real life month of immunity before they are allowed to be challenged for their position. Exile - Herd members may be exiled from their herd at any time by the King, Leads, or Lieutenant. War - Large battles between herds will be discussed and played out according to how we want the plot to end up.
8.Edaria ········································································ Lowlands - The Edarians live in one of the most beautiful places in Akono Basin, the Lowlands. This area was settled first by horses several generations ago, and is considered Royal and Sacred land. They have been living the same way for decades, and like their way of life under the King's rule. Over time Edaria has been called The Edarian Empire because of their power over the region. A Monarchy - Edaria is a monarch-ruled herd. The King and Queen make up the two highest ranks. They have all the power and all answer to them. The Heir - The son or daughter of the King and Queen is the Heir to the throne and is by far the most highly respected foal in the basin. This colt or filly will find their Queen or King, and then take the place of his or her parents at any age they want, or when their parents die.
9.Nadek ········································································ Wetlands - The Herd of Nadek resides in the plentiful Wetlands, which were quite recently discovered and settled by the rebels that fled Edaria in search of a better life. They are a peaceful bunch, but plan to take down Edaria and reclaim the Lowlands as their territory after knocking the King out of power. The Council - the three highest ranks in Nadek are made up of three Leads, which can be any gender. The First Lead is he highest power, followed by the Second and Third. Successors - The Leads will stay in their positions for their entire lives unless they are exiled from the herd or are challenged and beaten. After a Lead dies, the position is open to anyone who wishes to fill it.
10.Kalfex ········································································ Flatlands - The Kalfex herd has gotten a reputation over the years as vicious and violent creatures. They live in the desolate and dry flatlands, where they have become accustomed and acclimated to the dangerous landscape and conditions. The majority of them are very strong and smart. Lieutenant And His Deputy - There are two high ranks in the Kalfex herd. The Lieutenant is the highest power, and the Deputy is his advisor and usually one of his closest friends. Successors - When the Lieutenant dies, The Deputy takes his place and then chooses a new Deputy. If the Lieutenant is challenged, the winner of the battle takes is place and the Deputy keeps his rank.
11.Rosters ········································································ Special Boards - There are special boards in each IC category where each herd roster is kept. This can also serve as an OOC board for each herd to discuss things amongst themselves or hold their own activity checks. Yours, Not Mine - After the roster is posted, it's not my responsibility unless one of my characters is the highest rank of a herd. If you have questions about the roster, feel free to ask, but know that I will not update it or repost it for you. Also, please keep your herd rosters up to date. Members will be posting their character's names in the roster thread for you, so it shouldn't be too difficult to update your roster when the names are right there. Switching Power - When the highest rank of any herd [King, First Lead, Lieutenant] is challenged or dies, the player of the new highest power will repost the roster and replace the old King or Lead or whatever with their character's name. Lower Ranks - As you can see, I've given you the highest ranks of each herd, when you make your roster, you may make up any kind of lower ranks you want. This is only for when each herd is first populated, however. After the roster is made, the ranks will not be changed unless a staff member authorizes a change.
12.Loners ········································································ Highlands - Loners who do not wish to join any herd and want to stay as far away from the war as possible live in the Highlands. Trespassing - A loner may roam around to any herd he or she wishes, and may ask to join that herd if Herd Members - Your Roster - Loners also have a roster. This roster is set up by myself, and is edited every time a new loner character is created. Loners don't have to worry about it.
13.Fighting ········································································ When and Where - Fighting can take place anywhere and at any time. Graphic - Graphic fighting should be marked in the title of the thread to warn members. For example, '[G]', for graphic content. Who - Any gender can fight any gender and there should be no one-sided or extremely unfair fights. Decide Beforehand - The players should decide beforehand who will win the fight or battle, but staff will decide who wins if you can't make up your own minds, depending on who's fighting who and the situation. Fairness - Follow the posting rules for fairness in all fighting situations. Fight fairly or don't fight at all.
14.Mating and Birth ········································································ When and Where - There is no set place or time for breeding or foaling, so it can happen anywhere at anytime. Either gender must be 2 years of age before breeding, however. Uncomfortable - If you're uncomfortable rping breeding and/or foaling, you are allowed to make a thread 'just saying' that your mare is pregnant or not or 'just saying' that your mare gave birth. Graphic - Graphic breeding and foaling should be marked in the title of the thread to warn members. For example, '[G]', for graphic content. Forcebreeding - Force breeding can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone. The only one in control of a rape is the stallion's player. Mares, you can kick and squeal, and maybe he will back off, but if not, you will be force bred and you may just get pregnant. Stallions can't go around force breeding all the time. No mass-rapists on Eo, please. Force breeding is limited to three times each site year per stallion. Pregnancy - A mare won't get pregnant every time she is bred. That is decided by the players of the mating pair after the breeding thread is complete, not by staff. If your mare gets preggers, she'll have her foal 11 IC months later in the same season the foal was born. This is because the average gestation period for a horse in real life is 11 months.
15.After Birth ········································································ Surviving Birth - Remember that not all foals survive birth. This outcome is decided by you, not by staff, depending on how you want your own mare's life to play out after the birth. Biography - Foal's appearance and other statistics are determined by the rpers of the parents of the foal. The player of the foal's dam will make a post in the 'New Foals' board using the form that is provided there. The mare may not be rped after the birth until the foal's bio is made and accepted. Rping The Foal - Foals are played by their dam until they are 2 years old. Think of it as if you were rping two characters at once. Twins - A mare may have twins once every site year and once in her lifetime, seeing as twin foals are rare in real life. Auction - If you want to auction off your foal when it has reached the age of 2, make a post in the 'Auctions' board. New Biography - The winner of the auction will make a new biography for the colt or filly using the normal form. Keeping The Foal - If you don't want to auction off the foal, you don't have to. Just make a new biography for the foal as if you were making a regular character.
16.After Death ········································································ Biography Moved - All characters have to die sometime. There is no afterlife on Eo, so after your character dies, their biography is moved to the 'Deceased' sub-board and that character is no longer rped.
17.Unwanted Characters ········································································ Auction - Everyone holds their auctions any way they want. Other members will ask to take that character and then the member that is holding the auction will decide who the character goes to. They make the rules. New Biography - After the character is auctioned off, the new owner must make a new biography for that character before rping it. It can be exactly the same as the previous owner's, or it can be different, depending on how much the previous owner will allow you to change. Killing Off - If you don't want your character to be rped by someone else but you don't want to rp that character either, make a random post about that character dying, and their thread will be moved to the 'Deceased' sub-board.
18.Inter-Plots ········································································ Your Chance - As you can see by our current plot, a lot of stuff has already happened and things are kind of just... blah. The good news is that members can make up plots and suggest them to staff, whether they are for just a few characters or for the whole site. This is your chance to improve the site for yourself and for other members, so I suggest you take advantage of it. Post - Any plot ideas are encouraged and appreciated, so if you just happen to come up with an idea, post it in the 'Tell Me A Story' board in the 'Member Plots' sub-board. Acceptance - Your ideas will either be accepted or declined by staff before you are allowed to play it out.
19.Thanks ········································································ Thanks for reading the rules. If you're interested in becoming an Eo staff member, please read the staff information located here. Otherwise, if you have any questions about the rules, send a PM to Befera.
